Alex Alston Consulting is a government affairs firm focused on leveraging relationships with stakeholders, advocates, legislators, the executive branch, and agency partners to move client policy and budget priorities through the legislative process in Olympia.

Alex has a successful track record in lobbying, policy work, and campaigns. Alex has worked in public policy and politics since 2004. Prior to launching Alex Alston Consulting in 2018, Alex worked in public policy and lobbying on behalf of a statewide nonprofit focused on transportation, outdoor recreation, and healthy communities. Since 2018, Alex has worked on behalf of local governments, non-profits, and businesses to advance their policy and funding goals in Olympia at the Washington State Legislature. This work has spanned a range of policy areas and has focused on advancing legislation as well as securing funding in the operating, capital, and transportation budgets, including the most recent transportation package. Issue areas include:

Prior to working in advocacy and lobbying, Alex worked as a legislative assistant to the House Democratic Caucus Chair in the Washington State legislature. This role provided firsthand perspective on the legislative process and the political dynamics which define the state capitol. Additionally, Alex worked as the political director of the House Democratic Campaign Committee where she oversaw successful legislative campaigns while maintaining the Democratic majority in the House. Alex has a master’s degree in Legislative Affairs from George Washington University in Washington DC.
